What Daycare Directors Tell Us
These are the situations that come up regularly in childcare centres — and the ones we're set up to help with.
“I have one or two kids in a room whose speech I'm worried about, but I don't have anyone on staff qualified to say whether it's a concern or not.”
“Parents keep asking me: should my child see someone? I don't know what to tell them without stepping outside my role.”
“We don't have an SLP we can refer to or consult with. When something comes up, I'm on my own figuring it out.”
“I've looked into hospital programs for a few kids. The waitlist is 6 to 12 months — that doesn't help anyone right now.”
What We Offer Childcare Centres
Services can be scoped per-session or under a retainer, depending on what your centre needs.
On-Site Screenings
In-room observation and informal screening to identify children whose communication may warrant a formal assessment. Delivered as a written summary to the director.
Staff Professional Development
Group sessions for ECEs on language development milestones, early signs that warrant referral, and in-room strategies for supporting communication-rich play.
Parent Handouts & Referral Scripts
Ready-to-use handouts explaining developmental milestones, plus scripted conversation guides for the “should my child see someone?” conversation. Your staff won't need to improvise.
Individual On-Site Therapy
For children whose families want private SLP services delivered at your centre rather than at home. Sessions are billed directly to families and use a quiet space at your location.
Your SLP
Sneha Fonseka, MSc. S-LP(C), is a Speech-Language Pathologist registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO, Reg. #7608). She works with children ages 1 to 7 across Durham Region, providing both individual therapy and centre-level consultation.
How It Works
From first contact to ongoing support.
Discovery Call
A 20-minute call to understand your centre's current situation: how many children you're concerned about, what capacity your staff has, and what kind of support would actually be useful. No commitment at this stage.
Site Visit
A walk through your rooms to understand the environment, age groups, and any specific children of concern. This gives us what we need to put together a realistic proposal.
Custom Proposal
A written scope covering the services that fit your situation, pricing structure (per-session or retainer), scheduling, and what parent billing looks like if individual therapy is included.
Ongoing Support
Regular on-site visits on an agreed schedule, with written summaries after screenings and direct availability for staff questions between visits.
Centres We Can Reach
We come to you. On-site visits are available at childcare centres and preschools throughout:

Questions Directors Ask
How does pricing work — per visit, monthly retainer, or annual?
Both options are available. A discovery call is the right place to talk through what makes sense for your situation — frequency of need, number of children, and whether staff training is part of the scope all factor into which structure fits. We provide a written proposal before anything is agreed.
Do parents pay you, or does the daycare?
It depends on the service. For individual therapy sessions delivered on-site, families are billed directly and receive receipts for insurance submission. Centre-level services — screenings, staff PD, consultation — are invoiced to the daycare. We spell this out clearly in the proposal so there's no ambiguity.
What insurance and liability coverage do you carry?
Sneha carries professional liability insurance as required for CASLPO registration. Documentation can be provided before any on-site work begins.
Do you do staff training on top of one-on-one work with children?
Yes, staff PD is a standalone service. Sessions typically cover developmental milestones by age, early signs that indicate a child may benefit from a referral, and practical strategies ECEs can use day-to-day to support language-rich play. These can run 60–90 minutes and are designed for ECE teams, not clinicians.
How do you handle the “should we refer this child?” conversation with parents?
We provide ready-to-use conversation guides for staff — what to say, how to frame the concern without alarming parents, and how to direct them toward next steps. Your ECEs don't need to diagnose anything. They just need a script that opens the door without overpromising. That's what we build for you.
